Resolutions

Wayne Newton’s New Year’s Resolution is spending at least one more hour with his family every day.  It sounds like a great resolution.  It’s specific, it’s measurable, and it’s probably achievable.  What’s missing?

Vision is missing.

Activities that fulfill vision endure.  Stand-alone behaviors fade.

Leaders answer why questions.  Why spend one more hour every day with family?  I’m sure Wayne Newton desires closer family ties.  Enduring behaviors begin with vision expressed in specific, measurable, achievable goals.

A vision-based resolution:  Building connections with the family by spending an hour every day focusing on connection building.  You can flesh that vision out with measurable behaviours.

Do you know why you do what you do?  Has the urgency of life obscured the big picture?

Leaders reach higher when vision drives life.
