The End of Business as Usual
“The Coaching Organization: A Strategy for Developing Leaders” by James M. Hunt and Joseph R. Weintraub
An extraordinarily valuable book for those organizations that have discovered the real value of coaching in terms of business results and corporate cultural change (organizations like Wachovia, Whirlpool, Children’s Hospital (Boston) and Citizen’s Financial Group…)
I stopped highlighting it because I was turning every page into a neon-yellow blob! LoL!
The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement by Eliyahu M. Goldratt
A Sense of Urgency by John P Kotter
The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles by Steven Pressfield
Three books I’ve read in the past ninety days that help me reflect on leadership strategies and the ways I focus my thinking are:
This Year I Will by M.J. Ryan
Making Miracles in Forty Days by Melody Beattie
The Happiness Project by Gretchin Rubin
Dauna Easley
Identify Theft: Reclaiming Who God Created You to Be by Mike Breaux

Tribal Leadership: Leveraging Natural Groups to Build a Thriving Organization by Dave Logan
WOW! I thought I was an avid reader (business and pleasure) but the only one on the whole list that I’ve read is Wayne Dyer’s book!
(So many books and so little time!!!). I am currently reading Appreciative Inquiry by Watkins and Mohr; How Did that Happen and Change the Culture Change the Game by Roger Conners and Tom Smith (for business). Just finished an Anne Perry mystery for fun.
Not a Fan – by Kyle Idleman
Life changing.
David J Schwartz-The Magic of Thinking Big
Persuasion by Arlene Dickinson; I’m enjoying it and learning a lot
A book ever American should read: “First Principles – Five Keys to Restoring America’s Prosperity” by James B. Taylor. If we do not follow these principles, leadership will not matter any more in America.
Great post, it’s always great to see the popular books of the moment. I am currently reading The Referral Engine by John Jantsch. It is a great read and has a huge amount of practical information.
I’m currently reading The Leadership Challenge, by Kouzes & Posner, and Live The Dream, No More Excuses, by my mentor, Larry Winters.
Bounce by Matthew Syed
They Did You Can by Michael Finnigan
Personalities in the Classroom by David Hodgson
Lots and lots of great, thought provoking stuff in these. I have also used information from these texts to run sessions for my trainee teachers- it is great to share learnings and to get people thinking :o)
“The Five Books I Reread Every Year (Or How To Read Less)” was recently posted by one of my favorite bloggers, Scott Dinsmore. He argues that in addition to reading new books we should also reread five books per year so that the mindblowing content we came across during the first read really starts to sink in. Check it out here: http://liveyourlegend.net/the-5-books-i-reread-every-year/
Thanks for that Link! I appreciate the tip off on the blog, that is a new one for me. a really good point. I am often reluctant to spend time re-reading books but when I do always get huge value out of it. That will certainly encourage me to re read some of my favourites.
