7 Ways to Enjoy Happiness
At best, sadness instigates change. But often it just kicks you in the gut.
Sadness doesn’t make things better.
7 ways to enjoy happiness:
- Accept that deep down we all need the same thing, love. The people who frustrate you need the same thing the rest of us need.
- Give your best self to the world.
- Don’t worry about it if you aren’t willing to do something about it.
- Forget perfection.
- Let go offenses. People have weaknesses and do dumb things. The things you can’t let go destroy your happiness.
- Give yourself permission to enjoy your work. If all else fails, lift your head and smile.
- Accept your past.
Pressure to be happy makes sadness worse. There are plenty of times that sadness is appropriate. But, if you aren’t in one now, enjoy happiness.
Give yourself permission to be happy in an imperfect world. If you don’t, you’ll never be happy.
What keeps us from enjoying happiness?
Which of the 7 ways to enjoy happiness is most useful to you?
Dan,
I have not read the entirety of your post yet; but I have to stop and tell you of the blessings I have received in sharing your leadership “lessons” with my leadership staff (those who are willing to receive 😃).
I just realized I have too much to share and to adequately express my thoughts on this subject will take more time and effort that I have at the moment. So, I will say, in short, Blessings. This is it: Blessings.
I will write more in response to this later.
Be blessed in all you think, say, and do this day my friend. ❤️️ 🙏 🌟Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.

Wow! Thanks so much, Cynthia. It’s a pleasure to serve.
Powerful points. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, John!
Merry Christmas, Dan.. to you and your dear ones.
With respect to lending the hand of happiness to sadness, I think it is an important addition to your excellent post that we recognize the persons who need our help the most will often ask for it in the most unloving of ways.
The Spirit of Rebirth and Renewal of Christmas be to all of us.
Letting the vulnerability of joy scare us into forboding thoughts is way more common than we all realize. Brene Brown’s research found that making a habit of gratitude helps to counter the scary forboding thoughts, like “what if the plane crashes on the way to the ski trip vacation? Wouldn’t that suck?”
Instead remind yourself of how lucky you are to get that trip or experience and enjoy on behalf of those who can’t be in the same space. The whole hearted people would want you to. Make gratitude a daily practice and your mind will eventually more easily settle into it and you’ll be a better presence for those that you love and need you the most.
Dan, tell your wife how much we all appreciate her understanding in you taking time to share your own gratitude every day, especially on a family day like today. She must be an amazing woman.
Merry Christmas Dan.
Happiness always lies within and with whom you enjoy most. Either close ones or away from you but still within, reason or cause could be of your enjoyable moments with special ones.
1. Dan in my company recently I had experienced something different cause my md had discussed with me certain things below his dignity and it was not accepted to me and mine self respect challenged me and inner crazy revolted strongly. In 3 years I could learn his EQ level which I found very low and himself not aware with what damage he has done. I did not enjoy that moment and decided to parted the ways. So its true value based relationships even highly enjoyable and kept you bonded with organisation with professional loyalty. Which is start with people first and their happiness even on top of priorities. Relationships on such parameters is the real truth of high performance at a nominal cost.
2. I am standing with values and strong cultural values induce more happiness and allow people to grow on a greater satisfaction with more cherish able moments.
Happiness starts within ……. on a satisfaction of personal values.
Merry Christmas Dan

Although it’s a really useful list overall for Consideration, I find #5 most useful: “Let go [of] offenses. People have weaknesses and do dumb things. The things you can’t let go destroy your happiness.”
With no qualifiers on ‘people’ in the second sentence, I interpret (AND believe) that EVERYONE does have weaknesses and does do dumb things!
ACCEPT them no matter who the person is, seek to understand their thinking (“Seek first to understand, then to be understood.” Covey), but don’t obsess! Nothing wrong with remembering but disregard!
Dan thank you so much for this encouraging word. We have been going through a tough (growing) time with our business and with our families . Happiness has seemed distant at times and sadness has crept in, when in actual fact there is so much to celebrate….I loved if all else fails lift your head and smile…….thank you for your wisdom, its is always water to a thirsty soul!
Enter into the happiness of happy people.
I like to remind myself that God is the happiest of all. Spending time with Him in prayer always makes me happier.
Wow! The light bulb just clicked on. Thank you for sharing this post. I believe that I am so concerned to lead the right way and wanting it all to go so smoothly that the staff will enjoy their jobs, that I forget to allow myself to be happy in my job. I remembered that it was the love of my job and being happy in it is what brought me to the level of leadership that I am now and I have lost that.
