An Apology
Dear Leadership Freak Subscribers,
I want you to have an opportunity to win a copy of Servant Leadership in Action: How You Can Achieve Great Relationships and Results.
I apologize that the link in this morning’s post sent many of you to a 404 error. Here is the correct link to today’s earlier post: A SERVANT LEADER’S HEART AND HABITS BY KEN BLANCHARD.
The problem happened when I used yesterday’s date on the WordPress scheduler. To make matters worse, I republished it with the corrected date. In the process, you received a bad link.
Thanks for understanding.
Best wishes,
Dan
P.S. Be sure to click the link A SERVANT LEADER’S HEART AND HABITS BY KEN BLANCHARD and leave a comment for a chance to win one of TWENTY copies of Servant Leadership in Action.
Great article. Servant Leadership should be everyone’s goal.
Love Leadership Freak. I share many articles with my pastoral and leadership staff and we glean much from them.
Thank you.
Our entire leadership culture at Southeastern is based on serving! Great post from one of my favorite leadership authors over the years.
Thank you Dan. Your response is an example of how to handle things when plans go amiss.
We try to live the concepts of Servant Leadership at my site and it is a core pillar of our culture. Being able to apologize when mistakes occur shows an acceptance of humanness and permission for others to try and fail and then try again and succeed. I’d encourage everyone to read this book.
No problem – i just went to your home page and got it! Thank you – this is great.
Over the years, the most critical part of Servant Leadership model in my experience has been ego managment. It opens the way for the other variables.
Why would we not be servant leaders??
Passion !! Now how about a winner?
That happens, Dan! Ken Blanchard is such a great author! Never dated, always fresh!
Life happens! No worries on the technical difficulties… I deal with tech every day! As a government employee and a volunteer for not-for-profit organizations, I practice servant leadership every day! Although “The One Minute Manager” is one of his best, I really enjoyed “Whale Done” and practice positive relationships! I would love to add another Ken Blanchard best seller to my collection.
To serve, and not to be served. As a teacher, this is how I live every day.
Servant leadership…what a great topic! And, in my opinion, it’s how we should be leading the way as a leadership model. Thank you for sharing.
Re-emphasis on servant leadership is always welcomed and puts much of life into perspective.
When employees know you are willing to get in the trenches with them, whether it’s helping a custodian with a task or move a heavy tea pitcher for the lunch ladies, you will earn their respect. They will see your servant leadership modeled and will do anything for you.
Excellent! Servant Leadership needs to be on the minds of every leader, from government to the mom and pop shop down the street.
Servant leadership would help in the ongoing work/struggle to improve culture where I work. Would love winning a copy.
Thank you for this post, which arrived at a great moment for me. I, too, love the ideas for what to record in a journal. I went online and bought the book to read more.
Servant Leadership: articulating and naming the essential ‘being’ essence and energy that powers all the One Minute Manager pointers, and especially the successful application of Situational Leadership…models and frameworks I still use to this day in my coaching and consulting practices, ever since being exposed to them many many years ago as a rookie consultant. So many people I have seen inspired and empowered by the taking back of a gracefully and intentionally given Monkey!!
Love this post! Working to be a better servant leader!
I would love to have a copy of the book. Thank you
Great Article, always a great reminder regarding servant leadership
Servant Leadership is one of the most important leadership traits I’ve learned. Thank you for the reminder of how important it is to lead in this fashion.
I cannot think of any other way to LEAD! Being a servant leader allows me to practice my core values and beliefs while motivating and mentoring others around me. It is truly a thing of beauty to see how it impacts others, especially watching those who change and begin to “drift” towards servant leadership.
Love the information you disseminate daily. And, am ALWAYS reluctant to delete any of the items you send.
I LOVE and appreciate Leadership Freak! I have a special file where I save most of your posts so I can go back review as needed. THANK YOU for being AWESOME!
I love his writing. Glad you are making this available.
I have worked for self-serving leaders and servant leaders. One sucks the life out of you and the other one gives you life.
My day just was not the same without the LF morning message! It always has uncanny relevance to what my team is muscling through. Today was 404 all day!
What a nice strategy for resisting the urge to do ‘for’ and a helpful reminder instead to do ‘with’. This post reminded me of the importance of distributed leadership to effective collaboration. MLK Jr.’s Drum major sermon comes to mind, too: “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” I’d love to learn more. Thanks for the opportunity.
I am a nursing professional development practitioner. Our standards and scope of practice include servant leadership. Awesome. My very first leadership lesson was conducted by Ken Blanchard in the 1980s. I still have my copy of the One Minute Manager.
