The Soul Felt Its Worth

Friends who don’t celebrate Christmas wish me Merry Christmas. It’s generous and kind. I feel respected.

One website says “Oh Holy Night” was written by an atheist, Placide Cappeau. My reading indicates he was at least anti-church. Yet he inspired a phrase that sticks in my mind.

“’Til He appeared and the soul felt its worth.”

Worth is awakened.

Awaken worth

#1. Ask questions you don’t already know the answer to. Curiosity feels like respect.

#2. Give someone your full attention for five minutes.

#3. Name the good you notice. Don’t wait for perfection to notice better.

#4. Separate the person from the problem. “I believe you can overcome this issue.” If you don’t believe, reassign or remove them.

#5. Make what matters to them matter to you, while fulfilling the mission.

Deadlines, pressure, and deliverables distract from what really matters—people.

When you appear, do people feel their worth?
