Many times in my career I was creating new teams (for new business). I recently came into an already developed team and client relationship. This topic is helping me see more than ever the need to BUILD TRUST and take this team even further than where they are today.
Thanks Cindy. There’s a big difference between building a team and connecting with a team that already exists. I wish you well.
Imagine what would happen when we realized the real power lies behind being the leader of ourselves. : )
Yes. It begins there. Thanks DJ.
I don’t agree with Simon Sinek. Leaders are responsible for results. They’re also responsible for directing, engaging, training and developing their employees.
What’s one thing you can do today to build an environment where others get things done? Establish single point accountability. Make one person responsible for each goal (and make sure there is a specific deadline for each goal).
What’s one thing you can do today to build trust? After delegating a task, don’t jump back in and start making suggestions. Trust the employee will do what’s needed.
Single point accountability. Who owns it. Simple but so often neglected.
Re: Sinek. We have to acknowledge where the buck stops. I too am prone to hyperbole to prove a point.
As always, I enjoy you participation here.
Dan, your writing always inspires me. I serve as a coach to many educational leaders around the country. Leaders are so overwhelmed with demands they quickly lose sight of the people work required to build trust and ultimately results. How may I obtain permission to share your short and powerful thoughts within our Results Coaching Global zine?
